Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good robot vacuum combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer at a low cost and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you want for each room.

You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation tech are superb as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only problem is that the robot tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. 2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. Unlike last year's model this one has two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could miss.

This Roborock model, like the other two I tried is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without missing a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is striking, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning mop button, which doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot vacuum best to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto-refills.

The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any carpet that the best robot vacuum and mop crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of clever features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.

The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.
