Anna found it solid and secure when it was attached to her bed, with the legs firmly snapping into place and the zips secure to ensure baby safety. It comes with a new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel and is easy to use, even for one-handed operation. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, having 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to place under any bed.

Our testers appreciated the ease of use offered by the side panel which can be moved upwards and downwards with just one push of a button. This was particularly helpful in the evening when feeding time was over, since they could reach in and pick their baby up without waking them.

The side panel can be lifted by itself however, it's not advised as it increases the chance of your baby falling out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism ensures that it will only stay down when attached to the bed properly. This feature is fantastic for peace of mind if you breastfeed and require frequent feedings at night.

Telescopic legs allow the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed including divan bases or beds with drawers. It has a tilting feature to help reflux babies, and an option to rock to calm them after a meal. It's also extremely spacious and offers excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our test subjects despite the lengthy instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers, but it can still be easily moved from one place to another. It's also able to fold into a travel bag which is a great option when you need to transport it. The only downside our testers found was that the side panel didn't move like some of the other models, which made it slightly harder to see your baby from your own bed.

The Shnuggle Air

If you're looking for a crib for your bed that will grow with your child, then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth considering. It's a crib for co-sleeping that is securely attached to your bed and can be turned into a chic cot when your baby is old enough.
