Evolution Korea

In the past the Korean scientific community resisted working with creationists due to the fear of giving the movement more credibility. However, silence is no any longer an option.

The STR has been battling to remove content from textbooks that describe evolution, such as the discovery of the feathered dinosaur Archaeopteryx as an early bird's ancestor. However, this is just one aspect of the evolution of the developmental paradigm.

What is Evolution?

Evolution is a theory of science that explains the changes in the genetic traits of living organisms over time. The theory is based on fact that living things adapt to their environments which can result in changes in genes or even whole genomes. These changes can, over generations lead to the emergence of new species. Natural selection is the predominant theory of evolution. It explains how people with traits that are advantageous survive and reproduce more than those with disadvantageous ones. This differing reproduction may eventually lead to the creation and evolution of new species.

The word "evolution" is derived from the Latin word meaning unrolling or revealing. However, the concept itself has had many different meanings over the years as it has taken form in the fields of science and in other fields. Some early evolutionists, including Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Erasmus Darwin (Charles's grandfather) believed that existing species transformed into other species in a planned manner. The term"transmutation" was coined by Lamarck's student, embryologist Etienne Geoffroy Saint Hilaire, to describe this notion. Charles Lyell, who published the second volume of his Principles of Geology in 1833, attacked this idea and borrowed the term "evolution" from Geoffroy's student to describe the idea that existing species change into other species in a gradual and predictable way.

Evolutionary biologists define evolution more recently as a process through which living things develop characteristics to increase their chances of living or producing offspring. As time passes, genetic variation can lead a population to acquire new physical characteristics or biological functions. Such a change in gene frequencies is known as natural selection and is the primary driver behind evolutionary changes. Non-genetic changes, such as an increase in muscle mass from exercise or diet, can't be considered to be evolutionary because they aren't passed on to future generations.

Creationists are using the argument that evolution is controversial despite the fact that it has been proven accurate by thousands of scientific tests and that it has been tested over time. They argue that the theory shouldn't be taught in schools. In South Korea, creationists won a few victories over evolution in high school textbooks. This includes the removal of references about the evolutionary origins for humans and Archaeopteryx - a feathered dino which is believed to be the ancestral bird's first ancestor.

OECs are not as well-known However, they are just as enthusiastic about their beliefs as YECs. OECs believe that the universe and Earth are billions of years old and that evolution is a lie.

Both kinds of creationism deny the idea that scientific principles like natural selection and biogenesis can explain how life started on Earth. They assert that evolution is inconceivable because it would require miracles. The pioneers of modern scientific thought resisted miracles in fear that they could lose their credibility.

Some creationists accept naturalistic evolutionary and also special creation, and call their view "theistic evolution." This is sometimes referred to as "continuous creationism" or "evolution from the created species." The theory suggests that God creates original species and then allows them to evolve over time. These evolutionary changes eventually will result in new species that are similar to the original.

The STR has won its first victory by removing from textbooks evidence of the evolution and ancestor of an avian, called the Archeopteryx. STR claims that it has the support of 4,000 families as well as individual members. The goal, according to STR is to clear the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" that paints an image of students as being negative. In 1991 the year 1991, a minister and professor began teaching Creation Science in one university and it is taught to this day.

On August 6th and 7th of 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. This was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from outside the country, including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin presented to thousands of people. KACR and its members have been giving talks on creation science at major seminaries too. KACR plans to establish a Creation Science Education Center.
