The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot best automatic vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuum uk vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpg
