Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the performance of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it can also reduce its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The boost in defense typically isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. The cost of upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Previously, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a greater chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to increase their power and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be made through a process called jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gemstone and various reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.

All levels of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in the movement will make it more smooth and is usually used for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and make a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, are not swappable, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that bestow an array of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They are available in the start-up area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors and by completing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective when not active, and can also help make up for a lack of a solid team or any talent tree slots that normally are filled with hero's ideal stats.

As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item upgrader mod that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item upgrade; relevant internet page, has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade just one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.

In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one in the middle and top players will usually opt for the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.

Aside from the things mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other items in the form of trophies and awards. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating an opponent. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
