World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it will be able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

On your PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual Item Upgrader Mod (Yogicentral.Science) level.

This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item upgrader mod. The level of the area where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once however, items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item upgrader kit. The affixes can provide the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in early game runs than in later ones, because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
