How to Replace an audi key fob not working G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU via a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test since there are different connector pins, and each one has different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is operational, it should be reading about 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at full speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked with gasoline and the fourth was unclean. When I start the engine without sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and both are used in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a junkyard or in a local parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.

Some of the signs of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues it is most likely that your sensor is failing and requires replacement audi key cost uk. They're inexpensive and easy to locate, especially in the case of a Bosch sensor like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be the reason behind a slew of issues in your car. It's a vital component of the audi q7 key's transmission since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. If the sensor fails, it could cause problems for the transmission and the other car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, Audi Q7 Key just above the flywheel ring. It sends a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a typical component across the audi lost key 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.Lexus.jpg
