robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgBe sure to regularly inspect your robot hoover and mop's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
