1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.

Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It could get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task being performed. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum and back.

This model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and a wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical and not a remarkable time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size but not long enough to get every single spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

The 694 is a standard Cheap robot vacuum cleaner vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a longer battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and works better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of automation options.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's priced higher than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you check in on pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup.
