The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot auto vacuum and mop/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot cleaner vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
