Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

In addition to the learner-internal aspects CLKs' awareness of the need to be pragmatic and the relational affordances they were able to draw from were significant. Discourse Construction Tests

For example, the DCT cannot take into account the cultural and individual differences in communicative behavior. Furthermore, the DCT is prone to bias and may result in overgeneralizations. This is why it is important to analyze it carefully prior to using it for research or assessment purposes.

Despite its limitations, the DCT can be a valuable tool for investigating the relationship between prosody and information structure in non-native speakers. Its ability to use two or more stages to alter social variables related to politeness is a plus. This ability can be used to study the role of prosody in various cultural contexts.

In the field of linguistics, DCT is one of the most effective tools used to study the behavior of communication learners. It can be used to study various issues, including manner of speaking, turn-taking, and the use of lexical terms. It can be used to evaluate the phonological difficulty of learners speaking.

A recent study utilized an DCT to evaluate EFL students' ability to resist. Participants were given an array of scenarios and were required to choose a suitable response from the options provided. The most important problem in the field of pragmatic research is: why do some learners refuse to accept native-speaker norms? The participants consisted of 46 CLKs, 44 CNSs and 45 KNSs from five Korean universities. They were asked to perform the DCTs in their native language and to complete the MQs either in their L1 or L2. The results showed that, on average, the CLKs rejected native-speaker pragmatic norms in over 40% of their answers. They did this despite the fact that they could create native-like patterns. They were aware of their practical resistance. They attributed their resistance to learner-internal factors like their personality and multilingual identities. They also referred to external factors, like relationship advantages. For instance, they outlined how their relationships with professors led to more relaxed performance in regards to the intercultural and linguistic norms of their university.

However, the interviewees expressed concern about the social pressures and consequences they could be subjected to if they strayed from their local social norms. They were concerned that their native interlocutors may view them as "foreignersand believe that they are unintelligent. This concern was similar to those voiced by Brown (2013) and Ishihara (2009).

These findings suggest that native speakers pragmatic norms aren't the norm for Korean learners. They could still be a useful model for official Korean proficiency tests. However, it is prudent for future researchers to reconsider their relevance in specific scenarios and in various contexts. This will help them better understand how different cultural environments can affect the pragmatic behavior of L2 students in the classroom and beyond. Furthermore it will assist educators to develop more effective methodologies to teach and test the korea's pragmatics.
